One of the best ways of improving your lawn is to improve your soil. Improving the soil may seem daunting, but it’s actually quite simple with the proven technique of soil aeration.
For those that are not familiar will the process, it is simply using a piece of equipment that plunges a hollow cylinder about the size of a man’s thumb about 5 inches into the soil and then pulling that plug out of the soil and depositing it on the surface. These plugs (actually 100s of them) then in a matter of days decompose. This decomposing actually deposits small bits of soil and microbes that help the thatch layer break down.
The hole left in the soil will eventually fill back in, or, we can speed up the process by adding some well rotted compost across the surface. This is like supercharging your soil that will pay off for years to come.
