FAQ Facts & Stats

May 20, 2020

Below are some (FAQ Facts) frequently asked lawn questions and fun facts. If you still can’t find what you need give us a call at 888.701.LAWN.

Q. When is the best time to start to fertilize for the Season?
A.
Generally, your first lawn fertilization application should be applied March 1st – April 15th.

Q. Ahhh Snow! Will this ruin my fertilizer treatment?
A.
Fertilizer & pre-emergent needs to be watered either through melting snow or rain. Both will only help the lawn.

Q. Do I need to water my fertilization treatment?
A.
You can water your application, but it is not necessary. Ohio receives adequate water and or snow during the Spring.

Q. Grub bugs, Bill bugs, and lawn insects, how do I prevent them?
A. These insects can do rapid damage to your lawn. One grub bug treatment will grub proof your lawn for the entire Season.

Q. How often do I need to water my lawn?
A. Water your lawn regularly & no more than 2-3 times per week Water deeply so it soaks into your lawns soil. The best time to water is in the morning.

Q. How short should I cut my grass?
A. Keep your lawn mower on the highest setting. Cut your lawn more frequently. A longer lawn helps keep weeds at bay and holds in more moisture.

Q. When should I aerate my lawn?
A. Cool-season grasses should aerate in the fall. Warm-season grasses should aerate in late spring or in the summer.

Q. Should I bag my grass while mowing?
A. In general, no. We love grasscycling. Grass clippings contain nutrients usable to the grass when left on the lawn. If your lawn is extremely long you may need to rake or bag the clippings.

Q. What is over seeding?
A. Over seeding plants grass directly into the turf right after aeration has been completed.
