Right now you may be enjoying a lush, thick, and beautifully green lawn (especially if you are using Brookside Lawn Service). Ever hear of the saying “April showers bring May flowers.”? This is because Spring is an optimal time for your lawn to grow. Eventually, as Summer starts to emerge, your lawn will start to dry out a little. This is especially true if we have a dry Summer. With that said, lawns are water guzzlers.
Lawns need an ample supply of water especially in warmer temperatures. So, how much water does your lawn actually need? On average, most lawns need 1 – 1.5 inches of water per week to stay lush and green. Water can be supplied from irrigation or rainfall. Water your lawn deeply, rather than frequently. This helps your grass stay green during periods of drought or extremely hot weather. Can you push a screw driver 6″ into your lawns soil? If not, your not watering long enough. Here are some lawn watering tips to go by:
- Water In The Morning – As early as possible
- Irrigate Your Lawn 2 – 3 Times Per Week – Maximum
- Get A Timer – You can connect one to your hose bib
- Don’t Attract Fungus – A wet lawn at night is optimal for fungus growth
