Mushrooms In The Lawn.
Spring has emerged! This means warmer temperatures and tons of rainfall. Prolonged periods of wet and humid weather can lead the way for unwanted invaders in your lawn. Fungi is one of these nuisances. Fungi will begin to disperse into areas of your lawn via windblown spores. The fungi spores will then grow mushrooms in your turf-grass (insert excitement here). They need three things to grow; organic material, a substantial amount of moisture, and humid weather. Large fungi colonies can impact the quality of the turf-grass. Mushrooms will continue to flourish until conditions change or until their food source runs out.
How To Treat.
Currently, there aren’t any fungicides available to eliminate or control mushrooms from popping up in your lawn. The best way to destroy them is by breaking them up with a leaf rake or lawn mower. These invaders will continue to appear until their favorable conditions change.
Caution:
It is important that you do not eat mushrooms found in nature. These can be poisonous and even fatal. It is always best to buy them from your local grocer.
